New Look A6129 Modified

Today is a beautiful sunny day, and perfect for showcasing this latest look.  I used New Look A6129 to  make the long skirt.  It is view A, without the drawstring waist.  Instead, I finished the waist with 1" wide elastic.  I attached it to the top of the skirt, folded it down and top-stitched.  I also cut out view E, in a solid knit, to line the skirt since the fabric is see-through at the narrow horizontal stripes.  This knit came from Fabric Mart.

For the top, I was inspired by this photograph from In Style magazine.  I'm not sure what issue it came from, but I love the shape; narrow sleeves, loose body, and color-blocked style.  Since I didn't have any patterns in my stash similar in design, I created my own.  The body of my t-shirt is made from a scrap of modal knit, if I had to guess, in a mauve color.  The sleeves are made from a cotton/lycra knit in a dark brown.  I finished the neck with a double layer of both fabrics.  Overall, I'm not in love with the color scheme (brown/mauve), but I do love the comfort of both pieces, and I am pleased with how the t-shirt came out.  I have the same skirt fabric in denim blue, and I plan to make the same skirt, with a different type of t-shirt, before I put this pattern away.
Here is my interpretation of the above t-shirt:
And here is the skirt and top together:
And on a sunny day, the skirt has a bit more playfulness with the peek-a-boo lower half.

A big "Mahalo" to all who stop by to visit and comment!  To answer Mrs. K's question on the Jalie 2919 post, I am wearing a lace-knit, store-bought, black, camisole.  Aloha!

What a relaxed but put-together outfit, it looks so comfortable and the warm colours are lovely together. Your colour blocking on the t shirt looks great.

The shirt looks nice. With the striped skirt it looks awesome! Edgy and sophisticated, but still comfy to wear. Just perfect.

that looks so much better than either of the pattern envelopes - you rock in these.
