Jalie 2919 Cardigan

As many of you know, Ann at Gorgeous Fabrics celebrated five years in business with an awesome anniversary sale recently.  I have really enjoyed seeing the blog posts out there showing what you have purchased.  I also found some lovely fabrics.  When she posted some gorgeous sweater knits, I knew I had finally found just the fabric for Jalie 2919.
I will do a complete review of the pattern over at PatternReview.com and hit the highlights here.  First of all, it's easy, clever, and perfectly drafted.  I like that the sleeves are slim, the length over all is long, and I love the pleat detail down the front.  I cut out a size "s" and did not make any adjustments to the pattern.  I used my serger to construct most of the garment and used my coverstitch machine for the hems.  Take a look at the finished front shoulder area.
Here is a look at the way the front comes down to a point:
And here it is styled casually with jeans.  It has been unusually chilly, wet, and windy in upcountry Maui lately, so I will be getting some good use out of this right away.  It will also be perfect for my upcoming trip to the Pacific Northwest.  If you have been thinking about making this pattern, pull it out!  You won't be disappointed.  While I didn't see this same fabric on Ann's site, I did see some other pretty prints, like this one, that make me want to make another one right away.  Hmmmm....
Also, thanks so much for your lovely thoughts and comments on the last outfit.  I did wear it Sunday, and felt so good in it.  Regarding comments, I tried taking off the word verification for a short period of time, but had too many spam comments coming through to feel comfortable leaving it off.  I know it is a pain, but I think I will be keeping mine on for now.  Hope your week is off to a great start!

I really like these drapey cardigans and have a similar pattern. I am a convert to Jalie patterns, they are very wearable. Love the print!

Isn't that beautiful. The fabric is perfect and you look great. Ann has wonderful fabric. I purchased a box full a few weeks ago.

The stripy fabric and the pleats work very well together. What a great casual cardi!
I am sorry to hear about the spam. So far, I've been lucky.

Wow, the pleats and drape are stunning with the irregular stripe of your fabric. Thanks for posting this, I had considered this pattern but didn't even notice the pleats. Although, now I see they are in the title of the pattern. Definitely on my list now!

Now that is clever. You've really made the most of the stripes. These colours are great on you. You're wardrobe is really looking special.

I went back and forth on the word verification turn-off. My spam is mostly on older posts which I have to approve anyway. I even thought about approving all comments but have not taken that step yet. I hope blogger fixes the undecipherable word test soon as I would like to turn it back on at some point.
Your cardi is beautiful. I love the pleats at the shoulder. I am going to look for that pattern and see if I can find a beautiful knit to go with it.
Please let me know when you are coming to visit and if you have time to meet.
I am meeting my friend this Friday at Moonstruck chocolates in Beaverton which is nearby the Mill End Store. Although, I think you would enjoy RCT fabrics a lot.(rctfabrics.com) - northwest Portland.

I love how the stripes work with the design of the pattern. What a lovely creation! It has a bit of a Southwest feel to me, which seems unexpected given the color palette.

Wow! I love the colour. I've only tried out a couple of Jalie patterns, and have had great sucess. This one looks like another great one to try.

Great job as always!! It looks so warm and comfy. It has been unusually warm lately (well, all winter) here in NJ!

Absolutely stunning cardigan. You have obviously mastered sewing with sweater knits - I have only used this twice and found it hard not to stretch the fabric.
THe blues are lovely - they almost look like the surf/ sea ! do you have any hints for using this fabric.

What a gorgeous knit! The colours and the print are quite divine! I can see why you were drawn to it.
Pity about the spam :(

The pleats really show themselves off on that horizontal stripe. Very nice.

The pleats in this cardigan really make it shine! Oh, and I like the fabric you used too. It was perfect timing to sew this with the weather in Hawaii getting a little cooler.

I love this! I have seen this pattern made up on several blogs recently and just love the pleats in front. It looks beautiful on yours with that pretty stripey pattern.

I don't care about the word verification. I THINK on mine I took it off but still have owner approval? Or maybe I still have it, I don't post comments on my own blog, lol. I like this sweater -- I've seen the pattern and it looks really versatile.
