Wednesday Wonderings

Aloha online friends and readers!  Thank you for your thoughts on the last outfit.  I have added a review of the pattern over at PatternReview.com.  My last post was a little bit lacking in a couple of areas, like the fact that the skirt would probably be considered a wiggle skirt since the bottom is so narrow.  I definitely have to walk with a shorter gait than what I am used to while wearing it, even with the front vent.  Mary asked where I plan to wear this.  Good question!  I don't have an exact plan for it, but I will definitely wear it without the stockings.  I haven't worn stockings since I left the mainland, but it is so fun to style the outfits I make just to show you what could be done with them in different environments.

On to fabrics.... This Sunday will be my 18th wedding anniversary and I am planning to make a new dress or outfit.  I have three fabrics I'm considering.  The fabric on the left is a tie-dyed knit velour I bought a long time ago while still living in the mainland.  The two unique prints on the right just arrived from Gorgeous Fabrics.  The snake print is a knit jersey and the wavy blue and orange is a satiny type of fabric.  I love all of them and am torn.  Which would you choose?  Let's make this post fun!  When you share your thoughts, your name will be entered into a drawing for the red  market bag below and a surprise gift.  The winner will be chosen by a random drawing on November 12, 2011.  Be sure to leave an email address where I can notify you if your name is chosen, something like this, upcountrymom"at"yahoo"dot"com.  My boys love it when I have drawings, because they get to pick the name out of the hat!

Speaking of aloha bags....I've been adding new ones to my shop this week, with more to come.  Can you believe Christmas is just 46 days away?! Here are three of the newest prints.

I'll be having another random drawing for a bag, in early December, for all the Facebook fans of Aloha & Linen by MushyWear.  So be sure to become a fan if you'd like to be included in that drawing as well.  Okay, that's my Wednesday Wonderings. Aloha everyone and thanks for reading and commenting.  I can't wait to see which fabric you choose!

Well they're all fantastic but my #1 choice is the wavy blue and orange fabric. Plus you said it was a satiny like fabric which is nice for such a special occasion.

An early congrats on 18 years, very cool!

My e-mail shoesaremymuse@gmail.com but I live in Canada in case that changes things?

Your last outfit was great and you can wear it at your wedding anniversary too. But if you will make a new dress, I would take the snake print. The blue one on left can look a little bit overdressed and the right one maybe a little casual. But anyhow you can make your own choice and you will look great whatever fabric you will take for a dress.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! :) I think the middle fabric the snake print will be awesome for the task. They are all pretty, but the snake print has more vavavoom! :)

All three fabrics are pretty. I think I like the first best, it's sort of deep and dreamy. I live in the UK, so maybe I shouldn't enter the competition, but if you are happy to ship internationally my email is skousgard(at)yahoo(dot)com. I understand if you want to keep things domestic.
Congratulations on 18 years of marriage! You look to young to be married so long:-)

I am torn between the fabric I really like ...the stripy orange, and my least favorite...the tie dye. I am very confident you could make something interesting from the later...but I cannot imagine what it would be and so I am intriqued. But that orange and blue would be pretty glorious on you....just saying...

Have fun deciding

Happy almost-anniversary! All three fabrics are beautiful. It depends on what type of dress/outfit you want to make. The satiny fabric is better for a structured dress, maybe something a little Jackie-O-ish? The knit and velour would be great for more drapey sorts of looks. HTH!

I think the striped orange and blue would look great on you. That's my first choice. Cute market bag-I could use a bag like that...

I guess I didn't comment on your grey outfit - I love a slim fitting pencil skirt- on my list of "one days" is to draft a perfect pattern for my body. I love how feminine they are and how they feel when they fit perfectly. I love the neckline of the blouse too - I think that is a style I could wear well too.

Hmmm ... I pick the third one because it is just so interesting! I haven't seen you make anything with something like that. Though what? I have no idea. But I bet you do. This will be fun to see what people pick!

My friends on Maui say it is sunny so I am voting for the orange and blue striped fabric.
I like the vogue 1250 that Debbie Cook has been sewing. Without sleeves though. Love the v-neck.

Three very different, interesting prints.
My first choice would be the black/blue especially if you were going out for dinner at a nice restaurant but then I'm tempted by the lovely orange, blue and white stripe which would fantastic on you - but which I would consider more of a day dress type fabric.
I'm absolutely positive that's not helpful at all :)
However I'm sure you will come up with something amazing so will stop sitting on the fence and choose the orange/blue and white stripe.
Congratulations on your 18th anniversary.

Hmmm.., I like them all; but if I had to choose one, it would be the tie-dye velour. Christmas 46 days away. I need more time. :-( Lol

Congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful anniversary! I'm partial to the snake print, but all of the choices are beautiful. Can't wait to see what you ultimately make!
