Here is the final result of Burda 7440 styled with a rtw top. Please see the previous post for most of the construction details. I took pictures before I began teaching today and decided to wear them. So far, they get an A+ for comfort.
Just a couple more notes about fit and construction. The front waistband is much lower than the back, which I like. The darts at the inner knees give them a slight pointy look from the side, which I don't like. I will most likely make a self-fabric drawstring later today. The one you see is made out of a double layer of hem tape. I just used what I had on hand. It's not bad, but may be a little shiny for my liking. They are a unique pair of trousers and based on comfort, they are keepers. Any thoughts? I'm all ears...

What perfect casual wear!!
They are cute! I like 'em! But I see what you mean.....maybe if they were a little shorter they might not look so slouchy.
I would love to have a pair of super comfy pants. They look great on you, but as I've said before you would look good in a potato sack.
Uh , I'm not sure that sounded right. These are way cuter than any potato sack I ever saw. You do look great in them.
I like both the style and color - but then I am all about comfort. Although ... I don't like drawstring or elastic waists if I had to keep hiking them up. How did school go? And I'm curious - do you find/make time to sew during the school day?
I like 'em, I like 'em.
I love them!!!!
These look really comfy and practical, and frequently one needs this in one's life, no? I felt like this about my rusty corduroy jeans and almost didn't want to put up a picture of them, but I figured that even the practical, cosy, unglamourous clothes are just as important part of my life as the pretty frocks...
And I don't think the pocket issue you mentioned is a design flaw; the back stitching is to enable all the pocket-opening ease (the excess you mentioned) to fall at the front, so that when you have your hands in the pockets you don't pull the pants out of shape, which sometimes happens if the pockets are designed to sit flat on the pants when not used... (not sure if I made any sense there ;D)
I do like these pants! and I think this is a great colour too!
They look really comfortable but not schlumpy, a rare combination for pants. Keeper.
I really like them, they look lovely on you, not sure how they would look on me though. Hope you have a great week!
Oh, They look nice and comfy. Much better than I expected from your construction notes. I think you'll find many uses ...
Wow - this looks great on you. Totally comfy yet not so baggy that it loses its shape. Great job on fitting that balance.
Great job on the pants. I like the RTW top you paired it with also. Very comfy chic!
I like 'em, they're loose fitting but still put-together. Maybe a slimmer fitting top would balance out the slouchiness of the pants?
Lovely. Casual without being sloppy. And I love the amount of slouch in them.
I want a pair for myself!
I swear I didn't see this post before suggesting the white shirt. ;) We're obviously on the same page, though. I like the look - comfy, casual, but still chic. I say well done!
