Before I get into that question, let me just say how glad I am to see that I am not the only one who loves snaps. Ha! I feel much better now! Thanks to all who commented on the last few outfits. I appreciate you so much! And I have a plan to prove it, soon, very soon.
How is your week going? So far so good here. I have an interesting knit to show you. I am not sure what I was thinking when I bought this, but I remember when it arrived I was taken by surprise. "Did I really order this?" Apparently I had and now is the time to use it. It has season appropriate fall colors in it, but like the fabric in this top, I can't decide if it is really ugly or just unique. Ha! We will see. I have the perfect pattern for it; one I've made before. How about you? Do you have something you are not quite sure about lurking in your fabric stash? How about a challenge? Pull it out and share what you come up with. I'd love to see it!

I have some "what was I thinking?" knits. I'm sure they will become kids' pajamas.
But I think I like that print-I've realized lately that I tend too much toward the solids. So it's not a bad thing to venture out a little on the prints, even if you're not entirely sure about them!
I like this print, probably because I'm drawn to the colours!
I have a few 'what was I thinking' fabrics in my stash too. The worst are the ones that have no plans or purpose!
It certainly is an interesting print. Not at all in the colours I would wear but I can't wait to see what you make with it.
I'm too ashamed of my 'what was I thinking' fabrics.
It's always prints that give the feeling "what was I thinking", at least, that's what it is to me. Looking forward to see what you make of it. There's one particular knit fabric in my stash that gives me that feeling very strong. I'll take your challenge and post about it.
Yay! I'll be anxious to read about it Sigrid! Loved your comment Velosewer. You made me laugh and relate! Joy, you are right! It is fun to venture out with prints... to design "out of the box" so to speak. Sometimes we make some pretty cool discoveries.
I actually like your print! I have many, many odd things in my stash. I figure, I have now have no excuse not to make muslins...I have lots of ugly fabrics to use up! I am now resolved not to buy any more fabric because it is cheap and available, but to slow down and buy quality in sensible amounts.
I don't think it's ugly at all! I immediately see it made up with contrast panels or binding in a solid; but I'm sure you have chosen something very suitable. I have some "what was I thinking" material (poly) in the stash, and I'm not sure if I should keep it - for lining bags, or kids' scrap projects - or toss it since God knows I have more than enough nice fabric!
I really like that print...I'm going to take your challenge too :) I have some...erm i'm not even sure what type of material it is, i thought it was a knit??? It is a peachy/nude colour, which is the worst colour on me and its shiny, i really don't know what i'm going to do with it, but i will have ago. Have a great day!
Actually I rather like this print - I think that the colours are lovely, especially for fall. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make with it. (btw - I have quite a few pieces of 'what was I thinking?' fabric)
I like it (I think). I have a feeling it's one of those prints that when you see it in yardage it's a bit much, but then when it's made up into something cute, you suddenly love it.
I'm with Velo, I can't expose your delicate minds to the horror that is my What Was I Thinking pile.
Ooooo, my word verification is "beadium"! Like, that's what happens when you suddenly realize you've been volunteered to sew on millions of beads to your cousin's wedding dress. It turns into sheer beadium.
To start, I would like to thank you for your lovely and encouraging comments on my blog recently. The show of support from the sewing community was amazing.
This looks like a very fun print. I personally love the unique and interesting. But it is so hard for me to know for sure if I will like something quite often until it is made up. I do like the top you linked to because of the fact that it is fun and unique.
I was in the midst of planning my hubby's 50th birthday party this past week and didn't get to visit as much as usual, but I wanted to be sure and let you know that I think your recent Burda skirt and blouse are absolutely fabulous.
i think that print is awesome. i've definitely had some "what was i thinking" moments, but they were more of the "why did i buy 5 yards of this when i only needed 1" variety.
How fun to hear from you all! Beangirl, you may be right about the yardage thing. All made up, it has potential. Yay! We have another taker, Alexandra, "Way to be brave!" Uta, You hit the nail on the head. The design does have solid contrasting panels. Hope to have it posted by tomorrow.
I totally dig the fabric, but my taste in prints is not necessarily "classy."
I'm shocked that you're on the fence about this - I absolutely love it. At least from the pictures, it looks... sohpisticated. Really. The colors are very interesting, the print isn't cutesy or too graphic. I'm not a big knit person, but I'd be proud to have this in my stash. Rock it!
hmmm, I'm curious to see it made up. I've got a couple of things, mostly other people adding to my stash, that I'm not sure what to do with. I don't think I can do a challenge yet though because the boy needs new pants for fall....
I, too, have days when I pull out a piece of fabric and wonder what on earth I was thinking! And like you, Shannon, sometimes I can't decide if it is pretty, cool, or just plain ugly. I have a 37 year old daughter, though, and she is brutally honest so I ask her if in serious doubt. However, I think your print will make up into something stunning! Can't wait to see.
I actually like this print :) and look forward to seeing what you make up.
I too have some what was I thinking fabric. I wish I could join the challenge but I know I wouldn't get anything sewn up soon, so I will read and enjoy what others are posting :)
Your fabric is beautiful but I don't have any idea. :-) Unfortunately I've flowers patterned fabric too and I don't know what I do with it.
I showed you my fabric, if you want to see it, please come to me!
I think this print is beautiful and perfect for fall. I'm excited to see it all made up!
